Groundbreaking for the Ed Kilroy Outreach Center at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Largo, was held Wednesday, September 30, at 11:15 a.m. The service was led by the preschool children of St. Jerome Early Childhood Center. The 6,000 square feet building will house Lifeline Ministries, Toys for Tots, and additional outreach ministries. St. Jerome Catholic Church, with 2,800 families and more than 5,600 parishioners, has more than 50 active parish ministries serving the parish and the greater local community.
Staffed by dedicated volunteers Lifeline Ministry was headed by Ed Kilroy until his death earlier this year. The ministry distributes food and clothing each Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings September through May.
During the year, the preschool children work with the outreach ministries by participating in the Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Tots for Tots program at Christmas. The children were excited to be a part of this important day. The four year olds sang songs about helping others. They especially enjoyed the opportunity to dig in the dirt as part of the official groundbreaking for the new center.
